# Understanding Your Redemption Rate

Your acreBTC balance is a number of shares, not a number of bitcoin. Each share currently redeems for a specific amount of tBTC, set by the vault's share price. This page explains how to calculate what you'll actually receive.*.*

### Current redemption rate

As of the September 2026 transition FAQ, each acreBTC share redeems for **0.98762313 tBTC**. Multiply your balance by that figure to see what you can withdraw.

The BTC column is lower than the tBTC column because redeeming to native Bitcoin goes through the Threshold bridge, which charges 0.20% to convert tBTC to BTC, plus a small Bitcoin network fee. Those are Threshold's fees, not Acre's. Acre charges no redemption fee.

### What this means in practice

If you deposited when the share price was at or near 1.00, expect to receive roughly **1.24% less** than you put in, or about **1.44% less** if you redeem to native Bitcoin and pay the bridge fee. That difference reflects the strategy loss described in [What Happened: The Vault Strategy](/start-here-acrebtc-vault-transition/what-happened-the-vault-strategy.md). It applies to every share equally, whoever holds it. Depending on exactly when you deposited, your own position may be down between 1.14% and 1.26%.

### Avoiding the bridge fee

Redeeming to an EVM address returns tBTC directly, avoiding the Threshold Network's 0.20% conversion fee entirely. This is also the only way to recover balances below the 0.01 BTC redemption limit. You can convert tBTC to native BTC at any time afterward through the Threshold Network.
